BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
The German visual effects industry has established itself as a leader in the world, not only through spectacular effects, but also through so-called invisible VFX, which are often overlooked. These invisible VFX are not about explosions, destruction, spaceships or superheroes, but about decisively improving the credibility of scenes, be it through the insertion of digital environments, the removal of unwanted objects or subtle retouching. The aim is always to allow the audience to immerse themselves in the story undisturbed, without them even noticing that visual effects have been used. The films nominated for the German Film Award 2024 in the VFX category – DER FUCHS (Manfred Büttner), DIE THEORIE VON ALLEM (Kariem Saleh, Adrian Meyer), GIRL YOU KNOW IT’S TRUE (Juri Stanossek, Apollonia Hartmann, Jan Burda) and STELLA. A LIFE (Marco Del Bianco, Benedict Neuenfels) – show in an impressive way how these less spectacular visual effects, which are absolutely indispensable for the immersive experience, can be realized with high precision and attention to detail.
